Bank Holiday Forecast

Oh bank holiday Monday how we love you so, with your slower pace and guise as an extra day of weekend dressing, brunching and sipping. Whether you’re taking things slow or scheduling in the activities, we’ve put together a few ideas for outfit and homeware styling this bank holiday…

A stylish separate will take you from a leisurely brunch to Sunday evening drinks…just don’t forget to turn that pesky Monday morning alarm off. The Night Bazaar sleeveless jacket by Sister Jane (£75) is oh so on trend with its colourblocking combo of black, emerald and mustard and is in super sumptuous suedette.  Sarah paired hers with the Vero Moda Nynne lace dress (£34).

Sometimes the best kind of bank holiday involves no plans whatsoever. The Amuse Society Castaway tee (£30) is the ultimate off-duty staple. If you decide to venture out, pop a roll neck underneath to fight off the inevitable chill and pair with the Vero Moda low slung 5s in snow wash (£40).

Style your Sunday a la Sarah with the Amuse Society Beacon dress (£65) and Becksöndergaard wool and silk scarf (£65). The printed tie-dye woven midi dress is perfect for the current unpredictable weather; just pair it with the ultra warm BSG beauty and a little leather jacket.  When the sun finally hits, reveal the Beacon’s delicate straps and cut out back.

For a look that works hard while your relax, Mary-anne’s outfit pick is a combo of comfortable and stylish pieces that can easily be dressed up or down. She’s paired the Rum and Rodeos tank (£30) with the Sister Jane pom pom Pu skirt (£50), the Hudson Emmett boot (£155), Fab by Fabienne roller stud leather bag (was £109 now £90) and the Olivia Burton Enchanted Garden 3D flower black and gold watch (£135).

Who knows where the bank holiday will take you, pack all your essentials in the stunning Becksöndergaard Adosa suede bucket bag (£135). If you’re planning to make the most of a Monday morning lie in then add a little metallic magic to your Sunday cocktails with the beautiful From St Xavier Magna clutch (£70) or the dreamy Maple box clutch (£72). Check out our blog post on St Xavier here.

Planning to explore new places this weekend or hit the coast? A Rains jacket will be essential but the weather won’t ruin your plans with one of these 100% rain and wind proof beauties and oh my do we have a rainbow of gorgeous pastel shades in store (£75 for zipped breaker and short jacket, £89 for long jacket and £95 for the mac).

What would the bank holiday be without a little home improvement? Make a few updates that won’t break the bank (or your back!) with our interiors picks. Check out last week’s post on the ultra cool homeware collection by Day Birger et Mikkelsen. We’ve also got fab new prints from Letterbox Lane (large prints £15, small prints £10 and cards £2.50), which will add a permanent air of encouragement and positivity to your home. If you’re spending the bank holiday spring-cleaning then a delicious new candle will make a perfect finishing touch. We love these cute little soy wax votives by Chelsea Candle. If you love crisp fresh scents reach for Freshly Cut Grass or Green Tea and Lemon or if you like things a little sweeter, the Latte scent smells good enough to devour (£5 each).

Whatever your plans this weekend WSd will be open on bank holiday Monday from 10am-4pm. In the meantime, we hope the Easter bunny makes a delivery!

Happy Easter beauties!

Dawn of the Day

As a boutique offering both fashion and homeware all in one place, the style of WSd customers’ is extended beyond their clothes and into their homes.

We’re so pleased to welcome DAY Birger Et Mikkelsen Home to the WSd mix to bring you the latest in creative interior design.

The inspiration behind the collection lies in adventurous travels to Morocco, India, Africa, China, Indonesia and the Caribbean. Places, which according to DAY ‘have a tradition for craftsmanship and authenticity’- values instilled in the brand ethos.

The monochrome palette of the collection reflects the minimalistic styling of DAY and its ‘Scandinavian take on d’ecor’ to create a ‘unique design with a Bohemian accent’. The unusual fusion of minimalistic muses along with ethnic influences has achieved DAY’s vision to create intricate travel inspired designs with a couture vibe.

Here’s what we have in store…

Instantaneously freshen up a room with a luxurious room spray. No 1 ‘Day of Intuition’ is an elegant and masculine woody fragrance, softened with a note of citrus. No 2 ‘Day of Memories’ is gorgeously fresh with hints of blackberries, jasmine and tomato leaves.  (£33 each)

Cushions are a great way to be bold with interior design or change the style of a room without breaking the bank. Add a playful twist to your sofa with the ‘Not In The Mood for Quotes’ cushion (£42) or brighten things up with the ‘What a lovely Day’ cushion (£59).

Open up space and welcome in light with a super cool doorstop (£29.50).

The skull motif is a constant in the world of fashion and design. McQueen’s skull print from the 2003 Irene collection became iconic, as did Damien Hirt’s diamond encrusted platinum skull. DAY’s Skull Cup (£6.95) and Oval Plate (£17) have just the right amount of edge. A few touches of the timeless motif are all that is needed to create quirky corners within your home.

Build up a collection of mix and match tableware accessories to create added interest and elegance. With the monochrome colour scheme already determined, DAY has made it easy to successfully combine a mix of patterns and styles so you can perfect your ‘tablescaping’.  Combine the Zebra Oval plate (£17), Line Cup (£7.50) and Manda Bowl (£22) for a contemporary yet eclectic style. These pieces are all multi-functional too; we love the idea of the cups and plates as chic bathroom accessories or the skull cup suits a cactus to perfection.
